Junta is Phish's first studio venture, recorded and released in 1988 but not officially hitting stores until May 8, 1989. The album was later released on October 26, 1992 by Elektra Records. It contains symphonic-like epics, large-scale improvisation, and multi-part progressive rock suites. "Union Federal" was recorded at Paul Languedoc's home during one of the band's Oh Kee Pa ceremonies. [1] "Sanity" and "Icculus" were recorded live in concert at Nectar's in Burlington, Vermont on July 25, 1988. [2] We will Hear it!

The purpose of this group is for people to discuss ideas and thoughts relating to the concept of the current and overwhelmingly traditional stance of all bands and performers placed on a stage in front of a crowd. Let's talk about how much more interesting it would be to have the band or musical performers be disbursed throughout the venue and playing separately but with one big sound system. Are you tired of seeing everyone in the crowd riveted to the front of the venue? Do you think the dancing would become more tribal and a little more interactive if the musicians were not clumped together on a stage?
